Nook freezing up. It loads to 99% and stops.
My NOOK loads to 99% . The 99% blinks but it won't go any further. What can I do?and stops

You'll need to do a factory reset:
1. Confirm the device is powered off.
2. Hold the Power and Home key simultaneously.
3. Release the Power and Home key once the NOOK logo appears. A Factory Reset prompt will appear.
4. To continue, press the Home key.
5. To exit, press the Power key.
Please note, this will wipe out the previous settings on your device.

I recognize that from the Nook Book. I was really hoping I wouldn't have to do that.
It says that it will wipe out the previous settings but will it wipe out any data or saved files?

Previous settings, data, or saved files will be wiped out because this is a factory reset.

I've tried all the things ever mentioned, and still won't finish starting. Would like to retrieve the books I'm bought and somehow transfer them to my Kindle fire.
