Hi,

If you have them, try using the headphones with the microphone attached and see if people can hear you when you are using that.

If so at least it proves that the rest of the phone's voice sending circuitry is working.

The phone microphone is beneath a paper clip size hole at the bottom edge of the phone . I suggest that you DON'T stick anything in there to see if it is blocked, you may damage the microphone. Apparently. according to "Google", a blocked hole is a problem with this phone.

You could try using a vacuum cleaner. Try using it very quickly to see if anything gets sucked out and then try your phone.

If it still doesn't work I suggest that given that you have just purchased it, that you take it back for a warranty claim.

Good afternoon,

Yes I have the same issue and there does appear to be some lint in the tiny hole ..I wonder if in fact the vacuum will make things worse though...as would a can of air..it could perhaps blow out the microphone??

I was wondering if one could take the thing apart to perhaps access the issue with better visibility just as a side issue are there any actual cutaways or exploded views of the process?? many thanks M.H.

Hi,

As long as the blocking substance is not jammed in the hole I think that a "very quick" sucking action with a vacuum cleaner, as opposed to a blowing action with pressurized air, would be preferable, as far as minimizing any damage goes. You are not forcing the blocking material even further into the hole or even back onto the microphone. I agree taking it apart would probably be the way to go but not everybody has the expertise and/or tools necessary. Also there is a very real chance of creating more problems or damage when you disassemble/reassemble devices especially if you have little or no experience.

There is this repair guide from the Ifixit website which may be of interest.
