Home key broken of ribbon

Hi everybody. I have an iphone 6 with broken home button. As I've read that missing original home button leads to error while update I'm interested in one thing. In my case only the button is broken of the little ribbon and ribbon is still in place with its little chip in the middle on ribbon. So my question is will this ribbon connected be enough not to take my phone to error state. This may be a stupid question since I'm no tehnicion but the ribbon has a chip in the middle of it and I'm wondering is that enough not to get stuck with error while doing an update.

There is no chip on the ribbon, just a few passive components. In order for this to work, you need the chip inside the button.

Yes. There is a chip on iPhone 5s, but not on iPhone 6 home button ribbon cable. Even if there is a separate chip, no one can guarantee it can work, the chips could be coded to each other.

i don't think so... If I were you, I'd take it to apple. See what they say. Pretty sure you won't get the error. Unless you put an aftermarket button on there

the same thing happened to my brother and he taped the hole with duct tape , wnet into settings and got up the home button help . hope it helps if not sorry but tried :)

Thats what I'm doing at the moment, enabled on screen home button via accessability. Thanks for Your help but I'm interasted what happens during softweare update, such as instaling new ios update and does the update go trought without errors?
