Hi,

You said that you updated the driver. I assume you meant the Wireless Network Adapter driver in your laptop. Did you also check if there is a firmware update for your router? If so update your router and see if it improves your WiFi.

Check the to ensure that your network is secure and that you are not "sharing" your internet connection. If you have already done the 3 things below please ignore.

1. Ensure that your WiFi network is secure by using at a minimum WPA2 (set in router) encryption.

2. Change the router's login password from the default one (usually admin or password) to a different one -make it one that you can remember, you might need it one day.

3. Bit of a pain, but also change your WiFi connection password in router, which means that you will also have to re-enter the new password in all your Wifi network connected devices. Sorry I'm a bit security paranoid!

You can download and install a WiFi scanner program (here is one of many available http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/wifi_inform... ) and see if it helps you to find out what the problem might be.

Run the program and look at the RSSI value for your network. The lower the value to stronger the signal - they are negative values remember. Check to see if the signal strength varies if you move your laptop in relation to your router. There may be something between your router and your laptop causing interference. Things like CFL lights, other electronic equipment, electric motors etc can affect your WiFi signal. Also check how "busy" the channel you are using is. If a lot of other networks that you can "see" are on the same channel it can affect your speed, especially if they have, in relation to yours, a relatively strong signal. Change you router channel to a "quieter" (not so popular) one and see if that improves your speed.

If the above doesn't help, see if there is a TX Power setting, under Advanced Wireless Settings in your router. If there is try increasing the value in stages and see if that helps. Do not go for maximum first off, go up gradually.
