HP 530 laptop won't turn screen on after press power button

Hi everyone!

I have a second-hand HP 530 Laptop. It was working fine for the first year. Last week, I closed its lid and then it slept, but I when I tried to restore my session, the power button is on but the screen is off. I thought it was an error and try to restart it, but only the power button light is on. The WiFi and Capslock light only flashed once and the fan was still running & I can feel the heat from it. I searched for it and as the guide on https://www.daniweb.com/hardware-and-sof...... , I removed a RAM and it worked fine. The slot #2 was seem to be dead, but when I tried to hot plug RAM here, CPU-Z could recognize it.

It was working again till yesterday. When I was working on it, the screen froze and the laptop automatically shut down. I tried to restart and the screen is dead, again.

Anyone have ideas about this? Thanks a lot! Please help me.

I haven't worked on this model, but some HPs have a tendancy to corrupt the BIOS overtime. Re-flashing the BIOS may allow the computer to work again.

The other possibility is a problem with chipset on the laptop, likely in what was traditionally called the northbridge, disrupting communication with the memory and subsystems. This would likely require a replacement of the motherboard.

Do you know how to reflash the BIOS? Please help me!

I can't find specific info on your model, but if you're lucky it has BIOS recovery mode, as outlined by HP at http://support.hp.com/ca-en/document/c02... If not you need to have a serial programmer or similar and pull or desolder the BIOS chip off of the board and reprogram.

I am facing the same problem today 2022. Not finding a solution even after trying to reflash or even restore the BIOS, makes this a challenge. However, my problem started after realizing that someone I helped my laptop with was trying to upgrade it's memory by adding his own DDR. This meant he was always removing the cover to access already installed memory. Now I can't completely access BIOS Settings screen. It also switches itself on immediately when on power plug and goes to a blank white screen. Does somebody still has the best solution out there to please help?
