Hello:
My son has a 3rd Generation Ipod Video, it will not power up or charge once on the computer. If it is the battery how can I find a location to check it in my area. Is there a way to find a store locater that will check the battery, I have changed out power cords and USB hubs on the computer still won't charge. I am able to charge my smaller Ipod but just not his.

I would check the docking connector to make sure it is not broken off. Also ask your son if he has had it near water. I destroyed an iPod by having it in the bathroom while I was showering.

I have tried two different connectors his and mine to see if there was something in that area messed up. Tried two different locations on my usb on my desktop to make sure it wasn't that. But my Ipod charges just fine, as far as I know he hasn't had near water. I am thinkin it could be the battery is shot. Thanks.

If it is "Brand New" and out of the box it is in need of a update. Mine needed it badly just to charge. If it is old/or too frustrating to fix you may need a Warranty repair.

It isn't brand new unfortunately, I got it at a local pawn shop and I know that is a risk purchasing something like this there. I actually bought 3 and mine is running just fine. So I just wanted to know if there is a way to check the battery and how can I find someone in my area that could check the battery for me. I will call around here and see if someone can take a look at it. Thanks.
Also check the position of the Hold switch and see if that helps. Most iPod deaths occur because the battery had completely ran dead.
