Car starts but won't stay running when put into gear. Can't push on gas pedal , to try and keep it running. Seems like it's not getting enough gas, new fuel pump put in last year it's still working, so why won't it stay running? It was running fine, all of a sudden it wont

I was also having the same issue with my 88 Chevrolet, but mine was quiting on me when I put it in gear because I had a weak battery, so I replaced it and now it stays on till I turn it off :)

No its not the battery just put a new one in. It's still starting, but dies choke out when I put it in gear.

Check the fuel filter is allowing gas to pass through, you may also want to look for gas leaks under the car and do you have enough fuel in the car . Sounds like a dumb thing to say but the gas gauge can stick and make you think you have fuel when you actually don't have enough to keep the car running

Thanks I'm going to see if it's the filter! it's still starts but won't stay running getting very frustrated ! Back to the books!
