Trying to repair this MacBook Air

This is the original MacBook Air. When it boots up it goes to install lion from Internet recovery. I log into the wifi, and hit continue. And with logging on I can see there is an error connecting to the App Store. I tired using my IMac to make a USB install stick from Lion I purchased from Apple. When I try to use that it has a circle with a line thru it. I have tried all the operating OS LIKE Yosemite and El Capitan but I get the same thing.

It has the original drive a 80gb Zif drive and OWC offers a solid state for 200$. Ifixit is sold out and doesn't know when they will get anymore.

Any help I would appreciate it.

I didn't do a very good job explaining the problem. When it boots it boots to recovery. So I called apple they thought maybe the wifi wasn't acting correctly so I sent away for the usb to ethernet part. Tried it today and it still hangs up. I did copy the error.

I would really like to fix this computer for my friends daughter.

They also may of thought the firmware may be corrupt.

First try restoring using a ethernet cable connection to the internet to bypass the wi-fi and get a faster install.

Second see if you can reformat the drive from the repair utility. That failing, put it into Target Mode and wipe it.

After the drive has been reformatted or replaced, just boot up and do an internet install.

It has a Zif drive, I ordered a new one and a enclosure. Formatted it in the enclosure and installed it and it still hangs up on verifying information with apple- installing.... No way to use target mode because there is a usb and external monitor port. Really frustrating
