1 different types of front panel connectors...? (cable #2)
Hello.
I ordered a repair set at Amazon.com for my iPhone 3G.
No mistakes possible one would assume...
Beware ! Connector #2 comes in various types.
Now I am stuck with a wrong front panel. What to do about that?
The old cable says: 821-0766-A (2008)
The new one says: 821-0621-A (2009)
How can one know the differences?
The screens are sold as if it is quite easy to replace a screen.
Not at all!
I have not seen any warnings that the screens/connectors come in different shapes. It shows afterwards, when it is too late.
What can be done about this?

Everything is easy when you know.
I did nog even know of the existence of a 3G...
Checking out the websites learned me that you cannot relay on the pictures alone.
The description is also important, but I did not know to pay attention to 3G or 3Gs, for me it looked all the same.
It's not.
You end up by ordering a new part with the correct specs and hope for the best.
Indeed it is eaysier to buy the whole front panel in one piece for sure !
