TV Screen Won't Turn On, Sound Still Works

I bought an LED tv awhile back, unfortunately the screen was scratched the day I bought it but was on a deal so I had to get it. Had it for a couple years, approximately 3, and then I gave it to my mom. She had it for a good while and then the screen went black recently but the sound still worked so I'm trying to help her fix it. I know a little about technology so I can narrow it down to a few things I think might be wrong with it which would either be the capacitors, the backlight, or transmitter I believe. I'll update with more information later. This is all I know at the moment, we're states away and I have a busy schedule so it takes time for me to get in touch with her.
