The part that you are referring to is your contact clip.
It's called out here.
Specifically it's a contact clip, while it may have a specific purpose (we believe grounding) your phone should still work just fine.

Nope. Has nothing to do with the contacts/phone numbers in your phone. That contact is completely software based. This contact point is hardware based, where the clip connects via a 'metal finger' to the rear panel.
