Can I swap logicboard or HDD from one iPhone 6 to another

I have an iphone 6 that won't power cycle and another that works fine. I'd like to swap the hard drive via that logic board. I was told that if I swapped it with the home button that it would work.

Yes you can change one motherboard from one iPhone 6 to another but make sure you take the home bottom from the motherboard as there’s only one for each for fingerprint scanner

is it possible to take an iPhone 7 logic board by itself and put it in either a iPhone 6 or an iPhone 6s. I am doing this because my iPhone 7 logic board/motherboard is unlocked from icloud whereas my two iphones, 6 and 6s are locked.

von

Do you have to change mei numbers

Not that easy.

You'd have to use special tools to rewrite flash memory to change the serial number, then DFU and restore iOS on the grafted device.

The device enters DFU mode if you replace the main flash memory, and Apple activation servers will refuse to activate this device because the device S/N mismatches with the IMEI written into the baseband. So low level reprogramming is required.

Isn't all that information stored within the logic board? Where else is the imei info stored besides the logic board? Thanks.

Yes you can ive done many aslong as its the iphone 6 with both phones as all you do is YouTube it and make sure you follow the screws probably as one wrong screw with mess you phone up but I changed a motherboard from a smashed up iphone 6 I bought and checked it was all clean then I replaced it with the logicboard from the smashed up iphone 6 and its what im using now and please remember the memorie of the new logicboard gos to the one your putting in and everything on it and if your no comfortable doing it get a professional to do for you as you will have a new iPhone working as mine was iCloud locked thats why I bought the smashed up one just for the logicboard so good luck

Coco, just to clarify were you able to resolve iCloud lock by replacing the logicboard? If yes, can you share the steps (video link) on how you did it.

von

yea please share!!

von

Yes I was able to sort the iCloud as the iCloud is on the logic board so when I put a clean one into mine with the home button all done

von

But the logic board is the phone! If you change the logic board to one that is not iCloud locked then of course the phone will no longer be iCloud locked! That's like taking an engine out of a car that doesn't work and putting a brand new engine in and saying you fixed the engine. You didn't unlock anything, you just replaced the entire thing with one that wasn't locked!

von

To Iqtech+Guy yes you can replace the logicboard that’s iCloud locked and remove that one and put a clean Imei logicboard into the same make and model iPhone or any phone as long as it’s from the same phone and it will be clean from iCloud but the new logicboard that was put into the iPhone has to be clear of iCloud then it works fantastic I’ve done many time with all iPhones ,?

The problem is this your question has a two part answer yes you can change the nand flash memory on a logic board. you can also switch it BUT in order to activate the phone sadly you must wipe the nand disk n reprogram it to the S/N of the device so like the gentleman above stated you need serious microsoldering know-how and how-to proper handle this extremely delicate tiny chip to properly complete this task. this is because apple servers are trying to prevent counterfit phones from being activated by there servers. your phone would not be counterfit BUT because of apple servers having this feature your new phone would fall into this catagory thus forcing the phone into DFU recovery mode upon boot and DFU mode requires the phone the have a full restore to factory settings with all memory and data erased.. Sorry Geremy C i know how it is to have your life inside a phone and i totally feel for you :( Try Wondershares Dr Phone toolkit.. it has a recovery feature for broken phones that may be helpful im not sure if u need to be able to power it on or not but give it a look. hope this helps.

Someone should really do a guide on what a motherboard/logic board actually is and what it means inside a phone and what its role is…

Yes if u have an iPhone 6 let's call it A and u have another iPhone 6 B, u can swap the board from A to B and vice versa, however it means ur moving anything on board B to housing and screen A… this includes iCloud information, data, network locks and everything else basically as well as any faults board B has :)

Board B isn't a board with a hard drive somewhere seperate in the housing of phone B board B is essentially the whole phone with its data and any hardware faults etc

I'm sure someone can explain it better

No u cant change board from a 7, x or anything else into a housing for a 6 or anything else like that, the battery, screen and board fit the housing for their relevant model, a 6s will not fit and it doesn't fit the other way around neither

No you can’t change motherboard from iPhone 6s to an iPhone 6 but if you know how to desolder and can renal the chips and remove then you can change the memory from 16gb to 64gb but make sure if your not confident then try on broken board first as that’s what I done over and over and the right equipment helps but if you can do it then go for it but I wouldn’t recommend unless you have nothing to lose,? Good luck

ok so from my understanding ive read 2 different answers here, my question is, I have an iphone, perfect condition, fell, then stopped working after a week. It shows the battery and charging port are well but it wont turn on, so they told me its more than likely the motherboard (logic board) i have a lot of things (memories, photos, videos, apps, music, etc) stored on that phone that i really really dont want to lose, if i can get an iphone 6 with a smaller memory (i.e. buy a 16 gb iphone 6) can i swap my memory/storage (128 gb iphone 6) onto that motherboard, or is my stuff pretty much lost forever?

U cant do what ur proposing however just cos one person has said its probably the motherboard doesn't mean u should give up on the phone... theres loads of things that could be wrong with the board and loads of things that are possible to repair...

Maybe the phone just isn't charging get someone to at least try a charged battery in it to see if it turns on

von

I agree as all avenues should be done 1st to see other problems have arose and missed but I’m stating if all is lost and it’s a complete change of motherboard (clean of course and with home button) then all they want is a working iPhone 6 then yes it can be done.? As I’ve done 100s of times.?

Same thing here. iPhone 6 which stopped working all of a sudden. Thought battery was low at first. Try starting it, then booting it, but kept showing white screen with Apple logo. DFU recovery not working due to n/a serial number. Went to Apple Genius Bar in Brussels. The @%^$$@$# wanted to swap it for a new 6 for 350€, or get me to buy a new one. !#^& of. They said the logic board was broken. So will replacing it, fix my problem, without having the problem of missing serial numbers, or mismatches…?

All problems need to be checked first and find over problems then address them first but I have myself many occasions purchased Smashed iPhones with all good Imei numbers that I’ve checked myself and replaced with my own bad motherboard with the home button so I can have a fully working iPhone 6 with fingerprint scanner working and yes everything will be gone but when all is lost and checked then it’s better then being told you need this or Apple can’t fix the issue as I know for a fact on 4 other issues including 1on home button on iPhone 7 they said it was completely gone and can’t be fixed so a friend took iPhone 7 home threw into draw and acouple months later asked if I could take a look and it took me 5 minutes then she was over the moon.??

Yes but you'll need snap a few chunks off to make it fit. I recommend two pairs of pliers.

I have the Red screen issue with an error 4013 in my iPhone 5s.

Tried all easy ways to start the phone. Even swapped the display unit with another 5s, which didn’t work.

Only remaining option I came across was changing the Nand. (I can’t do that).

So, is it possible to replace the complete baseband from another iPhone 5s to the 5s with 4013?

I don’t mind loosing data. Also, what problems would I face while doing so?

And what is the most appropriate way of doing so?

Thank you!
