Automatic reboot iMac help, please

My iMac 27 Intel Core i7 OS X Yosemite Processor 34 with 2 HD discs keeps restarting every time I turn it on.

My iMac 27 Intel Core i7 OS X Yosemite 10.10.3, Processor 3.4 with 2 HD discs keeps restarting every time I turn it on. Sometimes it doesn't get to the desktop before restarting, other times it restarts while I use it. But, it does not restart, when using disk utility program.

When it restarts, it randomly shuts off and then boots again automatically, sometimes over and over, sometimes five or ten minutes later. The problem has begun after test & video card replacement at Apple store service ("Gatortech" in Gainsville, Fl.) The guy replaced video card and asked me to replace power inverter. I didn't get it why and what for, until I got home and turn on iMac.

First of all, I didn’t change anything in my iMac using it for 5 years without problems since I got it from the Apple factory. No external devices are connected. No new memory installed or replaced. No any software installed from manufacturers other than Apple. Always use the “Monster” power supply to connect to the wall outlet.

I have tried everything: diagnostic hardware, Apple Hardware Test, reset PRAM, reinstall OS to the initial, reinstalled previous OS X version, uncheck "Automatic restart...", recovery both HDs, Mount & Unmount HD, was trying to solve the Spotlight problem, even reformat drives making partitions - the problem exist. Never get alert message like "You shut down your computer because of a problem." Appear. Any meaningful advice would be appreciated. Thanks

I did my best guess on selecting your machine icon from what you gave.

First let make sure I selected your exact machine. You really need an explanation from the Apple Store for the repairs made. Why (under what program was the GPU replaced? Why did you have to replace the power inverter and just where is that in this machine. There is an LED driver board. This explanation makes no sense to me. I would love to see the invoice on this and I feel you've been baffled with bullshit because I'm certainly baffled.

How much were you charged for this mysterious repair?

Do you have a case number on it? Do you have an invoice and would you post it? Were you told it was repaired? Is this an ASP or an Apple store? Have you called and asked about it. Were you ever shown a working machine. Have you made alterations to the machine? Is it covered under AppleCare?

Here's the program that I'm aware of: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203787

Do you know - Has anyone been successful in getting their video card replaced by this program:

My machine was purchased in June 2011. I have never had any issues with it until the video card died. I am past the timeframe of the replacement program, so that's why I was looking at doing it myself. Anyone have success with Apple honoring after the timeframe?

Thanks!

I've gotten about 5 of them repaired using this program. It is right at its end so I would take it to an ASP (who gets paid by Apple, so they have an incentive to help you), rather than taking it directly to Apple.

Thanks for your answer. I did take it to an ASP and they told me it would not be covered. Told me to contact Apple to see if I could get an acception. Apple said no when I contacted support by chat. But they said to take it to the Apple Store and they would have the final say. &$;:@ I don't understand why it would be any different at the Apple Store so at this point I want to take it up the ladder. Can you tell me how to find higher level contacts to take my case to? Thanks!

The repair extension programs usually only run for 4 years from the date of purchase. They usually are only done after a class action law suit which takes 3 years, giving them a one year exposure time. This was not the case when Steve Jobs ran the company. Now Apple is just another greedy corporation.

When asking for a warranty exception it helps if you are a classy looking female.
