iPhone SE front camera mic static.

I recently had an iPhone SE in for repair, the front camera microphone was faulty I did advise her to go back to apple with it being under warranty but she asked me to check it for her as she was unable to go back to one of their stores. I tested a new front camera flex but had the same issue (static noise) tested about 4 parts with no joy. I also have an SE and tested my front camera flex on the device and it worked fine, these parts were for the 5S but when I ordered them the description told me that it was compatible with the SE. Just wondering if anybody else is having the same issue and if they managed to repair it?

I have ordered SE/5S front cam assemblies as well and all seems to worke except the mic. The Mic does not work properly (The siri or loudspeaker mic) I think the manufacturers haven't realized something needs to be changed for the SE part to work properly. Anyone find this part that works with the SE?

Hello and iFixit team I'm making this post so everyone can see the mistake every supplier is doing and making techs not able to solve the front camera recording or talking to Siri after replacing the front camera proximity cable.............

All the SE front camera proximity sensor everyone has been buying are 5s is not the same! The front camera will work proximity sensor will work and receiver will work but the microphone is different. Take a look at the picture 5s is on the left and SE original on the right this is why is static or mute while recording from the front camera or Siri not listening.

iFixit team tested so you can believe me.

Please notice @kyle this and change the product from the website............

Yes, I have run into this exact problem MANY TIMES. 5S proximity sensor flex cable will not work properly on an iphone SE. Everything works except Siri Mic and Dictation Mic because the Mic is different. Also, 99% of cellphone parts suppliers do not know this and list part as the same for the 5s and the SE.......But they are different....Where can i get an OEM iPhone SE front proximity sensor flex cable from??? anybody know ??? 5S will not work on SE!!!!!!

But why does ifixit website list the parts as iphone 5S/SE front camera flex ? If they clearly know this part is not the same?????? WHY????

ALSO, WHERE CAN I GET AN IPHONE SE ORIGINAL FRONT PROXIMITY SENSOR FLEX CABLE ASSEMBLY ? 5S WILL NOT WORK!!!!

where can i find an original iphone se front proximity sensor flex cable?

not a 5s proximity sensor flex cable assembly because mic wont work.

I have ordered a complete display replacement for the iphone se.

Now I have run into the same problem, that the front mic is not working.


I replaced the original sensor cable, and now it is working.

I am wondering, if this was a similar issue ?

You are using the wrong part. The iphone SE and 5S use a different front camera flex cable. They make one specifically for the SE that will resolve your issue. Some of the these suppliers do not even know this and list the part as compatible with both 5S and SE but that is 100% FALSE.
