My backward compatible PS3 has the wrong Blu Ray drive inside it

I bought a 60GB CECHA01 PS3 from eBay last week and found very quickly that it didnt work properly. It could play Blu ray discs and Playstation 1 discs fine, but if I tried a PS2 game or a DVD, it would never work. It wouldnt even show up on the XMB as an incompatable disc. I opened up the PS3 and found something that confused me. The drive inside was a BD-410, a model that from what i understand, shouldn't be able to work in a CECHA01. Naturally I thought that I had been tricked into buying a different PS3 than I wanted, but then other things didn't add up. The power supply (APS-226), the motherboard (COK-001), and everything else all seemed to be from a CECHA01, but the drive wasn't. How is this possible? What do I do to get it to work correctly?

I believe the non backwards compatible is 66 pin and the other one is 88 pin so yeah you got to make sure your Ribbon is fitting in there right and if it's now I ain't going to work right I did the same thing

Some previous owner probably (aware or not aware of issues after) replaced the drive, this can be done, however with Your results usually.... Research it and find the proper drive You need, and purchase one that's (best= NEW) (refurbished= only if You have to...) (old non-compatible drive= NO WAY NOT AGAIN!)

Since each PS3 motherboard only works with its original BluRay drive daughterboard, replacing the blu-ray drive could be problematic. Even more so because the daughterboard currently in my system theoretically shouldnt work at all becuase it comes from a different blu ray drive than it came with originally.

Nah it all pin count. The backwards compatible it only has one laser lens the others have to I don't know what that means but I know if it's got to laser then and there it ain't going to read PS2 games
