canon mp495 printer ink compartment not closing

The MP495 compartments are pretty simple. There's really nothing you can do that would make that happen - I mean it's not like there's a lever to flip or something to move out of the way. Don't get offended (I mean, I don't know you - you could be a mechanical engineer or a fry cook I don't know) but I'd start with putting the old one back in to make sure everything with the lid is still in order. If it will close with the old one, but not the new one, there absolutely has to be a difference in the two cartridges. If the lid closes with the old one in there, you know there's something different. Has to be.
