After successfully replacing the digitizer, the LCD won't turn on

After a digitizer replacing process worthy of Dante's fifth circle of you-know-what, I reassembled my iPad 3, and successfully turned it on. I swiped to turn it off once again before sealing it back up. However, just a couple minutes later, after using the blow dryer to seal the edges, the iPad failed to turn on. Or at least, there is no indication that the device is on. Nothing shows up on the LCD. I tried the following, without success:

- Restoring the iPad via iTunes. iTunes still recognizes the device, but restoring didn't fix the problem.

- Pressing and holding the power button for at least a minute.

- Pressing and holding the power button and the home button simultaneously for at least a minute.

- Disassembling it again and checking that the LCD ribbon cable is pushed adequately into its port, which it is.

- Disassembling it again and detaching the logic board from the battery for about thirty minutes, then reassembling it.

The battery life does not seem to be the issue, as it is at least halfway charged, as indicated by its presence in iTunes, and I've also tried resetting after the device is plugged in to power.

I am just about at my wits' end. I mean, it was working after I replaced the digitizer. I changed nothing between testing it out, and folding it up to start sealing it.

I don't know if I should start saving for a new one, or try replacing the LCD itself. Of course, I don't know if that would even fix the problem.

HALP!

Reboot it by holding home and power. Observe the screen very, very carefully. Do you see a very faint Apple logo?

Popping backlight filters is extremely common on iPads since you can't disconnect the battery like on a phone. What happens is that the iPad still boots up, the image is just very, very, very dark.

Try that and report back.

Thanks for the reply. It was a good idea, but no dice. The screen does not show anything at all :[

That's actually a good thing. Popped filters are a near death sentence.

iPad 3 was the first year they used the crap LCD connectors. Did you happen to have a problem with the LCD connector? As is...did you break the tab? Its extremely common since they made the connectors out of the most brittle plastic they could find.

Well that is good to hear! haha.

There doesn't seem to be any problem with the LCD connector. All the ribbons and ports are intact, even if it is a bit hard not to bend the ribbons while the digitizer and LCD are put back into place. The ports snap open and closed as they should.

OK so....here is where you are at:

The iPad works, iTunes sees it. That is good.

No picture on the LCD, no backlight either.

LCD connectors work.

My next step would be to try a different LCD. Its possible that the flex tore or was somehow damaged. Its also possible that the LCD flex wasn't seated properly and shorted the LCD and possibly the logic board. That's worst case scenario though.

Okay, thanks very much for explaining the situation and for your help today. I think I might take a chance on a different LCD as ifixit seems to have a decent return policy.

Is there any way to tell if the logic board is, indeed, fried?
