Black screen, until lit is almost closed

Hello iFixit.

I replaced my screen on my Macbook Pro, and when i set the new screen in and power on, I hear the startup sound, but just black screen. When I try to close the lit, 2cm from totally closed it turns on, and then works fine.

I have tried:

Resetting NVRAM / PRAM

Resetting the “SMC”

Start up into Safe Mode

Edit:When i log in and try to put into sleep mode, it works fine. It seems like it's only on the login screen.

Could be a bad LCD cable or a faulty LCD panel ribbon (sometimes the picture can cut out at certain angles), I would recommend trying the old screen to see if it is fine. Also try running a magnet along the left side of the palmrest (to the left of the keyboard along the top), to see if the screen tries to turn on. When the Macbook detects a magnet in this area, it thinks the lid is shut (so it will turn the screen off), this could be the problem?

I would most likely say a faulty LCD assembly though. Try your old one and see if it is fine.

I have tried the old screen, and it's the same.

When i run a magnet at the ESC button the screen starts up as normal.

And on normal use it works just fine.

I would recommend testing the screen when not screwed into the palmrest area, to see if it works fine. Sounds like an issue with the hall sensor/sleep sensor.

I tried the flash light test, and it showed my screen.

Sorry, do you mean you put a flash light to the screen and could see a dark image? There is a signal on the logic board SMC_LID which dims the screen when it thinks the lid is shut. I think this part of the circuit is the issue (or magnet interference), but I am not sure without looking at it.

I would recommend taking it somewhere who can look at this and professionally diagnose the logic board, it sounds like that is where the fault is.
