What program should I use to make an awesome avatar?

Hey everyone,

I don't know if this question fits on this forum but I know there are a lot of you guys out there that can easily awnser this question.

I really want to make a cool avatar, with pixels etc.

I'm looking for a good program that I can use to make one.

Hope you guys can give me some advise.

What operating system are you using on what type of machine?

Good that you ask. I use a lenovo laptop, I just moved so I don't have a desktop at the moment. And the lenovo runs Windows 8
