SSD Upgrade compatibility question

I've tried using a TarDisk to upgrade my storage on my Early 2014 MBA 13" but it froze my computer frequently. So I'm faced with the reality that my best option is to buy a new computer OR attempt to buy an OEM 256gb SSD used. I've been browsing ebay and there are just so many variables with different manufacturers and part numbers. For instance;

Seems like it's compatible and would fit, but I just can't be sure. Is there any way to find out exact SSD model numbers that will fit?

Have you spoken with TarDisk? Something doesn't sound right here.

You might also want to check your system out stem to stern. Is your OS up to date? How much free space do you have on the primary SSD? How much RAM does your system have and lastly when does the system freeze & what are the apps? Fill us in as best as you can the more info the better!

If you still want to upgrade your SSD I would recommend going with the OWC product: OWC - MacBook Air 11" & 13" Mid 2013, 2014, and 2015

Buying off of eBay can be a crapshoot ;-{ Unless you really know your stuff you will likely get the wrong part! Many of these folks don't know what they have so they mark it as being an Apple product and its not. Just looking at a few in your collection I saw four which wouldn't work in your system.

Sadly, paying a bit more you'll get the right product and get a warranty to boot!

Thanks for the response. I spent some pretty extensive time on the phone and doing screen shares with the folks at TarDisk. The tech I spoke to said he recommended I run El Capitan with the disk, but since I'm already upgraded to Sierra, that isn't an option. He did mention this isn't all that uncommon for Sierra users. It locked my computer up every time I woke it up. Its a great idea, just too buggy for it to be useful considering I have to restart my machine every time I wake it up. I'll consider OWC or maybe it's just time for a new macbook pro ;-) Thanks!
