@nickp , Nick , Ensure battery is charged, try another compatible charger/cord if possible. Press and hold the Power and Volume down keys simultaneously for 10-15 seconds. Release and the phone should restart. If this does not do it, you may have to try reset #3 procedure from the link below. Still no go, if under warranty return for repair/replacement/refund. Good luck.

I tried all your suggestions, nothing worked, I downloaded window's device recovery tool, no joy. After wading through the Microsoft web site I managed to find their repair agents and as the phone is under warranty it's gone off to Hungary can you believe ? many thanks forthe advice. NickP
