The power brick lights orange but when it is then plugged into the console the light goes off and nothing appears to work. I have tried resetting it by disconnecting everything for a period of time but this appears not to work. Is it a fault of the power brick or is it the console?

Do you still have warranty on it? If so I would try contacting them and see if they can do something for it. In the meantime if you have a friend with an xbox one then try using their Power brick and see if it works that will rule out one or the other.

No warranty as it is approx 2 yrs old. I am in the process of trying to check out the power brick. I tend to think it's the console because the brick does light up. Thank you for your response
No worries. Hopefully you can figure it out. Easiest way to figure it out would be the another known good device rather its the power cord or the console. I used to love playing on my Xbox 360 then it got a ring on it and I just switched all together to playstation. Best of luck to you!
