I need to check the fuel pump on my 1997 cadillac deville. I need to cut an access door and need to know where to cut it. I need the location of the fuel pump?

Do you know what you want to do when you check the pump . Most checks are done from your fuse or relay. If your looking for power at the pump then you can do a test of the wiring heading into the pump. If you have no joy with the wiring. then it is best to drop the tank . I have had to repair several cars that the owner thought it would be a good idea to access the tank by cutting the floor under the rear seat . droping the tank is not that difficult as long as it close to empty . usually 2 straps and the filler tube the rest will lover to the ground with the tank .If you do cut an access hole the interior of the car will smell like gas for a while . @brandonpate, brandon, On the 1997 Deville the gas tank is dropped to access the fuel pump. Cutting an access door really may not be a good idea, as you could cut into wire harness/fuel lines/etc. Good luck. I hope this helped you out, if so let me know by pressing the helpful button.

Most fuel pumps are in the Gas Tank. Look at the top of it and if you see wires and a connector that lead into the tank, thats where the fuel pump is.

Thanks, but I need to cut this door. I would, however, like to know specifically where the cut should be made...i.e. trunk area, back seat area?

do you know what a fuel pump primerr connector is and what it is connected to?

Cameron, what he would like to do is access the fuel pump with out having to drop the gas tank to the ground. He wants to cut the trunk floor or under seat area floor to create access. I think in 1999/2000 Cadillac started doing this to simplify operation(known as fuel pump access cover/door/panel.

@brandonpate The fuel primer connector will be in the engine compartment . It usually has a green cover and is in the power line to the pump. Its used to bypass the relay so if you want to empty your tank just connect opower and it will energize the pump
