Unknown Factory BIOS Password, Cannot Access Computer

Laptop: Toshiba Satellite S55t - B5260

MOBO: DA0BLNMB8D0 rev D

After replacing video cable to a fix black screen issue on a friend's computer, laptop boots, then says 'System time and date reset', then asks for password. I asked my friend about the password, and he says he never set anything to his knowledge. After 3 tries system shuts down. No CMOS battery is easily visible or related markers on MOBO. So 2 things:

1) Why did the time/date get reset?

2) Does anyone have ideas / experience with this model family or similar? I haven't found anything specific to this model on the internet so far. I've got a few shots of the mobo if someone can pick something out. I've found a few 'tips' on this sort of issue on the web, but a lot of it is fairly old or does not specify when it was posted.

Any ideas are appreciated, this is incredibly annoying to be locked out of the system by the maker (apparently)...

Issue solved by making some educated guesses on what the code might be. It was " ". Seriously, 4 spaces, that's what it was. Lesson learned I guess, after buying a laptop check the bios/supervisor password immediately to see if there is one, then get it using tools that can only work when you can specify the boot order / get to the OS.

Seriously, you can't POST the code? It would kill you to share that with others?Really? No body helps anybody anymore without something in return, do they. You must WORK for toshiba. Congradulations on being able to finally use your computer now...probably runs real fast while serving all of your online needs. That's good. Enjoy it, you got lucky somehow($$$$$). In the meantime, I'm taking one last crack at unlocking mine by throwing it away in the garbage dumpster across the street because that's all mine's good for now.

For those without a magical 4 space password you can short G2 with a paperclip while booting up.

I'd like to try this. Can you explain where to find this G2?

I'd appreciate it.

Thank you

Well, for the Toshiba S55t-B5273NR, which has the Quanta DA0BLNMB8D0 motherboard, G1, G2, and G3 are located by the ram slots near the edge of the board. If you are facing the board looking at the ram slots it will be down and to the right, down and to the right, near the edge of the board. I added pics to my original response. G1, G2, and G3 each consists of two silver (soldered) arrows pointed away from each other. They are in a row and G2 is in the middle.

Shorting the G2 pins, looks like sets of <> together worked for me. Thanks Ken Computers.

Hey Blitzer

What happens if you insert the wrong bios password, does a code come up ?

If a code comes up you can use this site to get a decryption code to access the bios https://bios-pw.org/

Hope this helps

"What happens if you insert the wrong bios password, does a code come up ?"

-No unfortunately, its just says you got it wrong, then shuts down after 3 attempts. I've been doing some reading, and it appears that these newer laptops are designed to 'defeat' all methods of getting these types of passwords (no error code, no visible battery, no jumpers, vague labeling on circuit boards, and they actually store the passwords on a separate chip that doesn't require a constant energy source, so resetting the BIOS wouldn't change it.

Fortunately I got lucky and did some educated guessing at what the default code was and got it correct...

von

Awesome, glad you came right :D sorry I couldn't have been a help

von

What code did you use? I have the same problem.

I'll believe it when I see it. If yours is a Toshiba Satellite with an expired warranty, then you are screwed just like me. I've been locked out of mine for over three years now, what a waist. My son used it for three months or so when he suddenly got locked out. This laptop wasn't cheap to purchase, over $800 down the toilet(basically), and now it's going to sit and continue to rot. Ssssssooo...if yours is a TOSHIBA, you should stop waisting your time, cut your losses, and buy a new computer- buy ANYTHING BUT TOSHIBA....anything....I highly recommend DELL. GOOD LUCK ~

Hello a week ago I was given to fix a Toshiba Satellite C55t-C5300 laptop, which happened the same thing, when you turn it on, it asked for a password. After a week of research with my cousin Alberto Concepción, we were able to find the solution.

You must first extract the BIOS from the board with a heat station, and through an interface read the firmware, done this using an exadecimal reader you can search the line 000080B0 shows you the password of your BIOS mine was "12345678".

Hope this can help you.
