Can't open iPhone 7 to save my life please help!

Hey guys,

I recently purchased an iPhone 7 with a cracked screen on eBay just to do one successful test run before I start offering the repair to customers. It just came in the mail yesterday and... I can't even start the repair, because I can't get it open. I have tried the iOpener with iSclacks, which did nothing. I ruined a pair of needlenose tweezers trying to jam them in there and twist it to get an opening, and feel like I almost got somewhere, but I didn't. Then I tried an iSesamo like in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hIs6vLdH...

I don't know if I did it incorrectly, but it did not work. If anybody has any tips on how to do any of these correctly, or an alternative method, I am open to anything at this point since I just want to get this phone open. Thanks a lot!

I did my first a few weeks back and yes the Adhesive is NO JOKE. Need to be patient plenty of heat and some picks. Gotta go slow with heat and get a pick in it. More heat then slide across the bottom then up the left side and just be patient. Good Luck

The adhesive on these is very strong because of waterproofing. Try clipping the screen back in and use the method that is not the iSclack method.

EDIT: Did you remove the pentalobe screws?

Try the first method on this guide. iPhone 7 Display tauschen

I did that with no success, maybe I didn't let it heat up long enough.

Hmm. I've never opened a 7 myself but as Jeff said the adhesive is very strong.

At Simple Computer Repair in Monument, Colorado, We have opened a number of iPhone 7's. The adhesive is definitely strong. We use a Kobalt heat gun on the edges. Start at the bottom (left side of the home button. We heat the bottom and left side first. We use a single edge razor blade inserted vertically between the phone case and the screen. We then gently pry up on the screen until it begins to separate. We then run the razor blade along the side releasing the adhesive. We use opening picks to hold the screen open and keep it from re-adhering as we work along the edge. Don't put too much of the razor blade in, especially along the right side so as not to cut the home button cable. Once you get through the adhesive, remember that the iPhone 7 opens like a book, not bottom to top. Good luck.

I would say there is no way to open this phone without damaging the paintwork. If you use metals tools you WILL scratch the surface and possibly chip the fine edge on the glass. All the videos show the phones coming apart really easily, but they are a total con. The adhesive makes it really hard to move, even when warmed up.

I am happy to be contradicted on this, but nobody has filmed a genuine phone being opened for the FIRST time using this method.
