Speeding up with a new logic board iPad Mini Wi-Fi Gen 2

Has anyone had any luck speeding up an older iPad by replacing the logic board with the original board or a logic board with more memory? Or should I be looking to save my money and upgrade?

iPad Mini 2 32G; looking to possibly upgrade to 64G-128G

I'd much rather repair vs replace, thanks everyone!

Upgrading just the memory, for example swapping the logic board for another iPad mini2 logic board with more memory, will not make you iPad any faster, it will just hold more stuff.

Replacing the logic board with one from a more recent iPad mini, for example the iPad mini 3, will not make much of a difference because they essentially share the same specs and components (CPU, Graphics etc). The two versions of the logic board look identical but I have never tried this so I couldn't say for certain if it would work. However, like I said, it will not really change anything even if you could do it.

The iPad mini 4 logic board is better spec'd but has a different connector layout so you wouldn't be able to use it in a mini 2 housing & peripherals.

Unfortunately, if you want a faster, more powerful iPad, you will need to either buy a mini 4 or get a full-size iPad like the Air 2 / Pro.

Thanks for the advise. It's too bad there wasn't a way to keep a device at the speed it was when you bought it. Although I've cleared a lot off of it, it still runs very slow. I guess it's time to upgrade.

The problem with the mini appeared once iOS 8 hit the ground. The original mini became so slow it was almost unusable, IMHO. The mini2 has the same processor as the iPhone 5S so it handled the change to iOS 8 much better however it is also past the point of diminishing returns.

That's where I'm at now. The iPad is a good product and I use it often for home and work. However, the programs that I need to function at full speed (for work), it just won't do it anymore. Honestly I haven't considered that the software upgrade could be some of the reason for the slow operation.
