The PlayStation 3 hard disk's file system is corrupted and it doesn't restore when i press 'ok'; it keeps repeating the same message. what do i do?

1. Make sure the red light on your power button is RED.
2. Place your finger on the power button, and hold it down. It will turn green, then eventually go red. Give or take 10 seconds.
3. Release your finger. This lets the system know it's fixing to enter Safe Mode.
4. Then place your finger back on the power button, and hold it down.
5. It will beep once then twice, and THEN take your finger off the power button.
6.You should have a pop up on your screen that reads: 'Connect your controller to your USB cord, and press the PS button (The PS button is the one that has the PS logo on the controller). Do that with your controller,
7. then you'll have a list of Safe Mode options on your screen. Choose the one that reads, 'Restore your PS3 System.' On mine, it was option number 5. Could be different on each Gigabyte console.
8.Anyway...Hopefully some of you will see this, and save yourself time and money. Hope I helped you all out. =)

after i choose number 5 does it remove all of my files??

How long does it take to restore
how fast can you do this or does it matter in how fast can you restore the file system on Ps3 it doesn't say in how fast you can do this please explain to me how

This does not work with off-brand controllers :(

Actually, you don't use the joystick for Safe Mode selection. Use the up and down on the D-Pad (looks like a cross!) to move the selection light. Hope this helps!

Thank you so very much for this information! I tried safe mode multiple times with different types of controllers and was about to give up, without realizing that the joysticks didn't work but D-Pad (which I never use) did. Within minutes I was able to restore my PS3 from a brick to a working system. THANK YOU!!!
I used an iPlay controller just fine
I only have an aftermarket controller it does not let you connect to the ps3 at all while it’s it. Safe mode. The screen stays on “connect the controller using a USB cable, and then press the PS button”
Please I followed the steps and am able to restored it, but there is no option as you talking about that we should choose option 5, there is no display like that so please help me
so im not sure that will work all the time it might be a simple fix of haveing it refurnished that is what im gonna do but let me know how that works

Do it erase the games one has on the console.
It worked but all my games were whipped off!

Hold The Power Button 2 times Hold The Power Button For 3 seconds if its red do it 1 more time then it will give you instructions to set Up Safe Mode Press option 4 It Will reset the system then i think its gonna save your games

i have the same issue, but when i press the off button 3 times for more than 3 secs each, still the safe mode doesn't come up and the same error message about a corrupted file system appears again

It work for a slight moment and then quit working and said corruption again after I restarted it again and again

i am downloading saves online as i had to wipe out the whole data due to reasons and it shows corrupted what to do
