Just remove credit card from you phone cover slot.

and just like that...fixed! Thank you. I put the credit cards in my phone case so I wouldn't have to carry a wallet/purse. didn't realize that IS when the pop up started.

My Senior Smartpass was triggering this. I removed it from my wallet and warning stopped

Hi!

You will need to turn the NFC functionality off. Here's how to do that.

Hi i have tried that but it turns itself back on

Thank you! I appreciate it!

The NFC feature was turned off the whole time I was getting the pop up.

Solution???

von

This doesn't help me, because I need NFC functionality. What I don't need is a popup every few seconds telling me NFC tag type not supported. It must be possible to stop these popups from appearing, without switching off NFC functionality.

von

This probably happens because your credit cards are too close to your phone and it is trying to read them, like contactless payment. I solved this by cutting a peice of sheet aluminium 1.2mm thick (about the same thickness as a credit card) and placing it between the phone and the card. Problem solved

The most likely answer is that you have placed an unregistered Credit Card, points card, access card that has a scanning tag too close to the back of your phone. The most likely way of this happening is if you have a flip case with cards in it. So whenever you open your phone the flip part of the case with scanning cards in it sits at the back of the phone, your NFC within your phone detects the card but as it has not been registered on your phone(because it’s a frequent flyers point card, library card, public transport card etc) then a message will pop up stating “No supported application for this NFC tag”. You can replicate this problem by rubbing the back of your phone against all your cards in your purse or wallet!!

Holy crap. How stupid am I! Exactly the problem. Well, maybe a byproduct of the problem ... (Me).

Hi Chris, I wrote the exact same thing as you about 2 months ago to someone else, I couldn't work out why I was having the problem with my new phone and flip case, thought I bought a dud phone. I did some research and found a similar problem/answer on another social comments page. So I thought I should share the knowledge on this page. I only plagiarized it, but I'm happy to hear that it helped, cheers, Luke

von

Exactly the solution for me. You're so clever!

von

This was EXACTLY it! You're a genius, thank you! I have a flip wallet phone case, which when it was flipped open behind the phone had a Target gift card which was activating the error message.

von

Ok, I have this issue due to my phone case with card holder. I found the card that is causing the issue, however I had already registered that card with Samsung pay. Is that not enough? I am still getting the annoying nfc message, which started two days ago after a new os update was pushed.

I solved the problem by a thin piece of aluminium (Approx 1mm thick) the same size as the card between the card and the phone and it solved the problem
