Why doesn't my ignition key unlock the drivers door on a 2002 LS430?

Ignition key unlocks all doors but the drivers door, You must lock and unlock the drivers door by inserting the key into the drivers door to lock or unlock just the drivers door.

Does your Lexus have the door closer as well (Easy-Close Option)?

@oldturkey03 I didn't realize this was a system in these cars, this might be why it's so expensive from some retailers then!

@vehiclefreak409 I guess it's a build-in butler..... definitely snazzy!

von

@oldturkey03 I guess so! But it also introduces the issue of complexity and cost when it breaks xD

von

@vehiclefreak409 absolutely! You should see the way it is setup. Cam positioners, sensors, multiple motors and all. Okay, I get it! I pass and use valet service for my 2002 Ford F-150 with 250K miles ;-)

Hi Mike,

Are you saying that the power locks are opening the other three doors, but not the drivers door, and that you need to manually insert the key into the lock on the drivers door to unlock it? If that's the case, the electronic actuator in the door that controls the power locks may be dead. Looking around on the internet yields that specific part being between $200 and almost $800. Seems like a ripoff for a simple part like that, but I found this one on Amazon in the mid-$200 range: Door Lock Actuator

Hopefully this is what you are looking for! Good luck if you do decide to attempt the repair!

It's expensive because the replacement is for the WHOLE actuator when all you need is a $5 DC motor (https://www.ebay.com/itm/203164611508?ch...).

I replaced mine by taking it apart and swapping out the motor. It's incredible how common this problem is for Toyota yet they fail to address this for some reason. Replacing the whole actuator is just so wasteful.
