Ipad mini charges only when turned off.

Ipad Mini. Unit has NO damage to the charge port. Using original Apple cable & charging block. While unit is booting up, charging meter goes from 1.23 A to 0 in a few seconds. While unit is turned off, meter reads 1.23 A solid till fully charged. Unit operates normally when charged.

Is this a possible battery issue?

Is this a possible charge port issue?

Is this a possible power management chip issue?

Thank you for any info

None of my iPhones seem to be charging when using a nongenuine charging cable. When the device is dead (0%) it starts charging normally, however, when the battery level reaches around 10% the device turns on and current drops to 0A (won’t charger for nothing). My power brick is 100% genuine but the cable is aftermarket one. Switching to a genuine cable fixes this issue for me. As long as the cable is genuine it works. I tried genuine cable with Samsung power brick and it still works. Not sure if this will help as you said you’re using a genuine charger/cable.

Tony “Using original Apple cable & charging block “ since you are already using original cables and charger I would start by replacing the battery. That will provide you with a known well starting point for further troubleshooting. Anything after that will require you to do some board level repairs. Remember that the Lightning port is soldered on to the logic board and the two must be replaced as a unit, if you need to replace it.
