Touch IC doesn't work after water damage

So I pulled a logic board from a damaged iPhone 6, for the purpose of unlocking my iCloud locked iPhone 6. Why do this instead of get a brand new iPhone? I got the locked iPhone 6 for free, and I won the auction for the damaged iPhone 6 was only $22, therefore I thought it would be a good solution.

The phone was water damaged, but I still thought the logic board looked fine, so I tried it anyways.

On further inspection, the EMI shield closest to the display connectors was a little bit dented. It didn't work at first, it was only recognized in iTunes as passcode locked. (The serial number had FMI off). I cleaned the connectors with rubbing alcohol, along with whatever I could access without taking the shields off. I also applied a little pressure to the board in order to fix the bend, which worked.

The phone booted up, but the touch screen was unresponsive. I verified that my screen was working with my other logic board, so I feel like it's something to do with the connector or the IC chips.

How would I go about trying to fix this now at home (e.g. removing the shields to clean more thoroughly). If things don't work out, what could a professional technician do to fix me an unlocked iPhone 6 using the parts I have (a working locked logic board, and all the parts of an iPhone 6).

Thanks to anyone who responds. I'm thankful that iFixit has such a helpful, dedicated community for problems like these.

A couple of red flags here:

  1. Dented EMI shield over the CPU
  2. Bent the logic board
  3. You bent it back
  4. Last but not least, water damaged logic board

Just below the CPU EMI shield, closest to the connectors is where the backlight and LCD driver circuits are. The LCD driver circuit also powers the Touch circuits, which are pretty much directly underneath on the backside of the logic board. Also near the connectors are dozens of passive components (capacitors, inductors, resistors) that are involved in one way or another with the screen and peripheral functionality (camera, sensors etc).

So essentially everything required for proper screen functions is right where you noticed some issues. While this may be fixable, unless you have proper tools and experience, I would suggest that you find a repair shop that does micro-soldering repairs, preferably one that works on a no fix no fee basis. Not all water damaged logic boards can be repaired though so you will need to determine how much more you are willing to invest in this project.
