My Instax Mini 9 film keeps coming out black.

I just got the camera and the first set of film came out black so I thought the film was ruined. I bought a new pack and put that in and it still comes out black. The flash goes off and I had it on the right settings.

I'm having the same issue and unfortunately I don't have an answer but I would contact customer support so you can replace either film or the camera if you are eligible for the warranty. Thats what I am currently doing and I wish you all the best!

I had this problem!! And I couldn’t find the solution online. It wasn’t the shutter in my case. There is a piece of black tape inside the camera, above the lens, blocking the exposure. Peel it off- problem solved for me. Hope it works for you too!

was it a above the lens just below where the back of the camera opens? I have this same problem and there is a little piece of tape there but it seems like its supposed to be there

von

Where exactly the tape is?

von

Inside the camera, below the film.

von

hmm mine looks like it should be stuck on as well. Did it look like that for you Molly?

von

Wait where exactly is the tape? I saw a tiny black tape in the bottom of the film installing area in the back of the camera(it's stuck to the camera) I peeled it off but I don't know if that's the right one. >-<

Also, can anyone just send a photo of where the black tape is in their camera please? ._.

I have seen people who had this problem with the instax 8 say it was due to a black piece of tape above the lens that messes with the exposure so if you find something similar try removing that!

I was told it's problt cause of not enough lighting on the camera and make sure not to shake them
