How to I take apart my Sony ICF-P26 am/fm pocket radio?
This is a great portable radio but after only 6 months the volume control potentiometer needs a clean. The volume jumps to maximum at some points in its travel. I think I can clean, or replace, the pot once I open the case but can't manage to open this case. I removed the two screws inside the battery compartment hoping that would allow the case to hinge open, but alas - no budge. It must be held by clips that grab on assembly. Any ideas? Here is what it looks like:

Thanks, Mike
PS: My device is not listed in your device list so had to select the wrong Sony radio to continue!
Ist dies eine gute Frage?

I navigated the clips and got the back off. Use thinnest jewellers screw driver to lift the edges. First clip is just north of the earphone jack / on off switch. Then took out the screw that holds the circuit board in place. So finally could see under the volume knob, but the design of the knob shields the pot. Used WD40 contact cleaner squirted under the knob. All works well now. BUT I think I might have got the same result just by squirting the cleaner in at side of the radio without taking anything apart. Use the WD40 cleaner with the thin tube. Cleaner cost more than I paid for the radio, but then I also used it to revive Sennheiser earpones and no doubt on other things in the future.
