Lately, if washing one item, for instance a sweater, at the end of the cycle, the washed item is still extremely wet. I experienced same problem in washing a small area rug, too. A full load is properly "wrung" dry after washing...so is it simply that my old washer can no longer handle a single, heavy item?

Inspect the drive belt to determine if it is broken or if it is loose on the pulleys. If the drive belt is broken or loose, replace it.

Thanks for the reply. I guess I will need to call for repairman to check this as it seems beyond my capabilities.
