My Kindle Fire when charging is turning on and off, sometimes to just the logo and other times to the first picture. Occasionally I see the books with "loading" on the screen. I also have a star in the bottom right of the screen when I see the books.

Power off your kindle, and hold either Power + Volume Up or Down. You'll be taken to Amazon System Recovery. Use the volume keys the scroll and power to select. Select wipe cache, then reboot. Hope that helps.
