I just want to know how can it be upgraded to windows 10 if it has only 2GBs of ram. I am not sure whether it will run smoothly if ever I get it to upgrade to win10.

Hi @Arsenio Erguiza,

Here’s a link that shows the minimum specifications to run Win 10

I have an old laptop with an Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz CPU and 2 GB of RAM which runs Win 10. It’s slow but works smoothly.

Updates take a long time to install but once updated it runs smooth but slow.

I’m already using Windows 10 on this model and it works fine. The only thing i want to reduce is the “delay”. It is smooth but delay on processing application. Any suggestion to upgrade any specs of it?

SSD Drive upgrade is #1 way to upgrade it. Replace hard disk with 2.5" SSD drive. It will help with overall performance of the system. Then increase your disk cache size a little.

but i have one more question as the processor speed is shown to be 2.1gh but it is capped to 1.9 gh only... any solution ?

Processor has variable speed, also known as Intel Turbo Boost. The speed increases and decreases as needed to conserve power.

Hi @Divino Gracia Serrano,

If you haven’t already done so, improve the laptop’s performance by replacing the HDD with a SSD. Not only will it speed things up, it is quieter too. All you’ll hear is the fan after it is installed ;-)

Here’s a link just to show what is compatible and how much they might cost. There are other suppliers that may suit you better. Usually SSDs are supplied with instructions on how to transfer the data from the HDD to the SSD for a seamless upgrade.

Here’s a video that shows how to install a SSD in your model laptop, which may be of some help.

Also, check in Task Manager > StartUp to see what programs are being loaded when the laptop is first turned on and if they are necessary to be loaded at startup at all.

If not required all that often or if not at all, they’re tying up system resources (memory) unnecessarily which could be better used for other things. If you’re not sure what the program is for or if it is necessary, some are so be careful, search online using the program name and check what it does. To disable the program from loading at startup, right click on the program and click on disable. It won’t be loaded the next time the laptop is started. If you make a mistake and find you do need it to be loaded at startup, simply right click on it again and select enable

To get to Task Manager, right click on the Taskbar and click on the Task Manager link.
