Why does my RAM purchased from iFixit not work?

I just purchased a PC3200 1GB RAM Chip from iFixit for my Mac mini (PowerPC 256mb RAm 1.25 Ghz). I installed it correctly and without any difficulty, and it worked fine. The Mac recognized and utilized the new RAM without problems. I left the mac on all night and when I came back the monitor was blank. I thought the Mac was just sleeping, but I could not revive it. I force restarted, but I only got the power light, the chime, and then a blank screen. I have restarted multiple times to no avail. I tried turning it on by holding the power button longer to get a diagnostic. I got one beep which I believe indicates bad RAM. I cannot boot in any other mode, nor can I reset the pRam because the mac does not seem to recognize the keyboard at all anymore. any help would be greatly appreciated and would increase my faith and trust in iFixit since I purchased the RAM from you.

Thanks for your time!

Weston

Edit: No the RAM is not loose, and yes the mac boots with the old RAM but I would like to use the new RAM.

One beep would seem to indicate no ram-- is it possible the ram you installed could have worked loose? Good luck. Ralph (By the way I don't work for ifixit--I expect you will hear from them shortly.)

Try putting the old ram back in, and see if it will boot.

If it boots with the old ram its probably a defective stick. It happens--contact iFixit and I'm sure they will make it right. Ralph

Alright, I'll do that. Thank very much. Any idea why it was working and then suddenly stopped?

von

Not really--that is why I burn in a new computer. If a part is going to fail it usually doesn't take long.
