The blinking clean light indicates the control did not see a 2 degree or a 4 degree increase in water temperature during the first 8 minutes of the main wash. To clear the blinking clean light: Press HEATED DRY, NORMAL, HEATED DRY, NORMAL and then let the dishwasher run for a two minutes and then press Cancel/Drain and wait for it to complete the drain cycle and then your dishwasher will operate normally again unless it does not detect a increase in the water temperature again. If it continues to stop and flash the clean light, the heating element should be checked. The heating element can be tested by disconnecting the wires and checking the resistance of the heater with an ohm meter. It should have a resistance measurement between 10-30 ohms.

I am having same issue but I do not have NORMAL HEATED DRY and NORMAL BUTTON OPTIONS.

When I press the START button its blinks red and nothing happens.

@carce499 Please start a new question. It really helps to have your exact make and model number with as complete a description of your symptoms as you can give. What blinks red? Are there multiple blinks and if so is the a pattern?

von

My Kenmore DW had similar issues. I ordered the heating element from Repair clinic and installed it. Then I followed the instructions given here to fix the blinking clean light. Now the DW works great. Thank you for the easy to follow instructions!

@Robert Woell,

As the Chosen Solution above states a 7 blink Clean light error code indicates a heater circuit failure. The control didn't detect the expected rise in water temperature when the heating element was energized to heat water during the cycle.

Disconnect the power from the dishwasher and then use an Ohmmeter to check that the heater element has continuity. Scroll down the parts diagrams on the left side of the page to find the heater parts diagram to see the location of the heater element.

If it tests OK you may have to check the wiring from the control board to the heater.

I misinterpreted the original suggestion for clearing and reprogramming. The instruction said to go between heated dry and normal and I assumed it was between heated dry and normal dry. I found another site with more detailed explanation and it said to go between heated dry and normal wash. When I Presssed those buttons in sequence twice it reset and everything is fine.

The following link provides more details on resetting and interpreting error codes.

@Robert Woell This helped! I went to the website you posted read the instructions. I had already unplugged the unit and that didn't work. got down to the heated dry reset did that and now my dishwasher is running. Hopefully that does a trick but if not I will do the next steps posted. Thank you this is an excellent post because definitely the original comment / post didn't really help.

@Robert Woell, This worked perfectly! Thank you! I love it when the internet is helpful.
