yeah, some of my keys on my laptop wont work e.g. 9, m, =, d, etc. i havent spilled anything and i tried checking for dust, crumbs and tried to rotate it on a 45 degree angle and tap to see anything would come out. i havent tried any softwares or anything to fix it. anyway to fix it?

From my experience of disassembling and fixing several keyboards with fully or partially not working keys I can say that just cleaning contacts will not work.
The membrane part of the keyboard, where the contacts for the keys is printed on, is prone to deterioration.
Since the keyboard module is riveted to the top palm rest - the best chance to fix it, is to get a new keyboard assembly. It can be either salvaged from another base, or bought on ebay or aliexpress.

I had this problem, and some time ago purchased just the keypad/membrane assembly on ebay for like $20. I was then able to remove the old keypad/membrane (with the zillion rivets) and replace it. I used blue loctite on the rivets when I reinstalled. So this is possible and there is at least one thread on the internet with more details. However I don't see the bare keypad/membranes available for purchase on ebay. So I would agree with Zieg that the best approach is to get a working bare keyboard base with the keypad/membrane installed. These do seem to be available on ebay last I checked for $80 -100.

Hi Zieg! Sorry for my late response. I removed the rivets by punching out the keyboard from the top with a metal punch at the corners of each key. Obviously this is after disassembling the rest of the keyboard base and I think I also detached all the plastic key caps first. And obviously this trashed the keyboard membrane assembly. I put tape over the rivets and I did this on top of a pan that would catch any rivets that got past the tape as they popped out. It seems like a fairly destructive process, but the rivets actually pop out pretty readily once you get the hang of it. And there is nothing to lose since the alternative is buying a whole new keyboard base with a keypad assembly installed.
Hi Uzair! Sorry for the late response. There are currently a bunch of the surface book keyboard membrane assemblies on eBay, but they cost around $50. Entire keyboard base assemblies with the keyboard are around $100, which is probably the better way to go. I am still using my surface book with the replaced keyboard as my primary personal PC and it is working fine.

I have had some success with this problem. I found that bringing up a Word Document and fiddling around with the keys, that eventually the keys would work, but only temporarily. Shortly after the keys would stop working again.
But just now, with a Word Document up, and the problem-keys working, however temporary, I held down the problem-keys and held down the on/off button till the laptop shutdown. On turning the laptop back on, the keys have been working fine. That was 30 minutes ago. I've been typing away with no problem.
Only time will tell if this solves the problem.

Try unplugging the the keyboard than cleaning the connectors and plugging it back in.

I have an Acer Aspire e5 476g.
Same problem here,
happened when i clean my keyboard with 70% IPA, after I assemble it back, the del,power button,ins, and backspace key are malfunctioning (dead). But then I let it rest in front of a fan to dry it off, all of the key works except the backspace key. Was frustated, have tried reinstalling the driver, reinstalling new Windows 10, and even reseated the keyboard connector to the motherboard.
I then dissasamble the backspace key to inspect, but there was no broken hardware, it was bone dry, I even tried to jumped the 2 pads, but it still doesn’t work.
Until today, the backspace key is still not working. Haven’t bothered to replace the keyboard since I have an external Logitech USB keyboard.
TL:DR
Tried to clean the laptop’s built in keyboard with IPA, ended up with a malfunctioning backspace key.

Same here...I thought I got Windex on base when wiping the keyboard down, but none of the keys are came back a couple of hours later a using a drying (figure at least one would come back). Ones out are S, D, U, O, 8, 9 , [, ], -, =, N, M and others. Using a USB keyboard to type this. I checked Windows updates and I haven't seen anything recent.
