Where Is The Temperature Sensor Located

My mother-in-law took her Macbook Pro 13" unibody mid 2012 to the Apple Store and was told that her temperature sensor was bad. Her problem is that the fan would automatically kick on at as soon as the machine boots up. Where is the location of this sensor and can that sensor be purchased separately?
