One Partition Not Working
I have a 1TB WD Passport that I use on my Macs, both laptop and desktop. It's worked perfectly for years. I recently updated my laptop to High Sierra and all of a sudden my external hard drive would not mount at all.
I then checked if it would show up on my desktop since it was still running Mountain Lion, which it did just fine. The next day I tried accessing my files again and could no longer view them on the desktop. My external HD is partitioned so that one part is for storage and the other is a boot up disc. The boot up disc is currently the only part that will mount and show anything. The storage section is apparently corrupted somehow.
I tried Disk Utility, free data recovery software and even shelled out $130 for Diskwarrior to no avail. When plugged in, the external HD will run (meaning I can feel it spinning and the light is on) but the storage part of the partition will not show up :( I don't know what else to do, but I feel like there's gotta be something. Apple's Disk Utility shows that there is 900+ GB of data on that partition but I just can't find a way to access it.
Any help, direction/guidance would be deeply appreciated. Thanks!
Update (07/20/2018)
I tried opening it in Windows, but it's formatted for Mac so I don't think it was able to do anything unless I reformatted it.
I did however find an application called Stellar Phoenix Mac Data Recovery which is free to download. When I let is scan my hard drive, it actually found my files, listed the folders and file names and everything. It cost $99, but I'm currently recovering at least 99% of my data. I wish I would have tried this first and saved some money!!!! But at least I'm getting my data back.
Thanks for your response. Hopefully this helps someone else.
Ist dies eine gute Frage?
