Danby DTT420 twin tub spinner: heard a POP and now won't spin

I can’t remember at this point if I heard the POP sound while I filled the spinner (overstuffed, possibly?) or when I actually turned the spinner on. But it was a distinctive POP sound.

I’ve replaced the spinner’s timer and the capacitor and - nothing. The drain pump starts and that’s all I get.

Any other idea of what it would be?

Sounds and act like the belt broke:

Thank you for your quick response. Much appreciated.

That was my first thought when the spinner just sat there. But when I went to http://www.reliablepartsinc.com/danby/la..., the spinner isn’t showing a belt as part of the assembly.

Has the parts list and diagram possibly given you any other thoughts on this that I could zero in on?

In the meantime, I’m going to remove the new capacitor that I’d wired in and see if just redoing it will do something (although the old capacitor didn’t physically look like it blew so I think I was just being over-cautious).

First look in the machine to verify if the belt is broken.

Betty, on your link that belt is diagramed as part 3-12.

I looked at the belt and it was fine. So I brought in the technician to take a look at everything. There's some power going to the motor but the motor isn't doing anything except heating up.

This technician said there's no motor for this machine (except there is and it's for sale on Danby's parts site - $140CAN with taxes and delivery). There's also a video on the YouTubeThing that shows a guy replacing a spinner's motor (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMdi40VA...).

It doesn't look like more than an hour (especially since I've already done some of the prep work).

I think I'll cough up some more $$ on parts and another technician visit because I'm weirdly emotionally attached to this machine.

i also have an issue with the spin timer

First it stopped timing properly, as something was misaligned. Then, something popped and now there is no resistance when turning the spin handle.

i disassembled the timer, and got it to start spinning the moment i turn the knob, but it's supposed to resist (timer, countdown) and just snaps back off.

If you still have your washer, and would be inclined to send a pic of the inside of your spin timer, it'd help me since i don't know how it is supposed to look & if something is broken or the pieces are misaligned.

i also have a weird want/need to keep this machine, so appreciate your help if you get this

Thank you
