Why does my New dishwasher not drain completely.
I installed a new Whirlpool dishwasher and some water is left in the tub at the end of the cycle. I have to run the dishwasher drain cycle once or twice to drain the remaining water. The filter is clean, the dishwasher is level and the drain hose has no visible obstructions. I utilized the same drain hose that was used by the previous dishwasher which was installed by a plumber many years ago. That hose was looped around twice below the dishwasher and then connected to the drain. This results in about six feet of hose looped around and an additional two and a half feet before going to the high point and then down to the house drain.
I have two questions: 1. Can the long drain hose be the reason for the problem? 2.Did the original plumber loop the hose twice below the unit because of a code requirement or some other relevant reason or can I go ahead and shorten the hose?
Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Ist dies eine gute Frage?

Thank you lady tech. So you don't think the long drain hose causes the problem, you suspect the drain is partially clogged.

There should be enough slack in the drain hose to be able to pull the unit out from under the cabinet. There could be a build up of nastiness in the drain hose. Grease and gunk will line the walls of the drain hose. To be sure, remove the drain hose and with a garden hose, spray it out. Or just instal the new hose that came with it. Be sure there’s no kinks. When installing new hose, it must loop up the come down to plumbing connector so water from sink won’t drain into tub. While hose is off, check plumbing at connector for a buildup also.
