Hard drive Upgrade Capacity question

Mates,

I now have a working macbook (thanks for all your help in getting the machine working again)...and I also have a macboo pro core duo.

I want to upgrade the harddrive on both units. Serial numbers are:

Macbook 13": 4H6250A1VMN

Macbook Pro 15": W862196BVWX

I know the RAM upgrade is limited to 2G. Any limit on the Harddrive capacity? Can I stick a 1TB in there?

I've used the "we love macs" cite and it seems that any 2.5" SATA harddirve is compatible. Is that true? And what about the "slim" harddrive I keep coming across - is it better/worse? will it work in either of these machines?

according to welovemacs, I don't seem to find any capacity limitation for either the macbook or the pro. The reason I am so skeptical is because I just upgraded the HD on a Sony vio, put in a 320G HD, but that darn thing only recognizes about 160. waste of $$$$.

It appears that the "slim drive" is a new marketing term. The new slim drive is the old standard 9mm drive that we've been using for years. This is opposed to the newer 12 mm drives. Here's what OWC says about what the "Fat drives" will work in: 1.0TB WD Scorpio Blue 5200RPM SATA *12.5mm* HD with Advanced Format Technology - Fits all Apple MacBook/MacBook Pro 'Unibody' Models (13/15/17"), MacBook Pro 'pre-unibody' 17", and PC Laptops which support 12.5mm SATA Drives. This means that you need to stay with a 9 mm drive for your machine.

Ahhh. Thanks for the information. So if I stay with the 9mm drive, is there a capacity issue with either the macbook or the macbook pro? Can I put in as large a harddrive as I want?

Perfect! I purchased a so called slim drive (750 GB) and it works.
