Replaced microphone but still won't work

The microphone of my DS Lite isn't getting anything any more. I bought a new one, followed Ifixit guide to replace it (great guide!). Now I have everything back in place, but it still doesn't work... What could I do next? I guess, I can only go buy a DSi ... Other ideas to fix it?

Same problem, tested it with new mic but still not working.

i'd check that the microphone connection is on the motherboard correctly... it can be tricky little connection.

Although it seems unrelated, a faulty headphone connector can also cause this if the internal connections are shorting.

Easiest solution is to replace the connector.

The same problem can occur on the DSi, but I've not seen it on any later models.
