Mac shut down for 2 weeks and now it doesn't work

after two weeks that I didn't turn on my Mac air today I tried to turn it on and at the beginning it started like normal, at the moment of putting the password the keyboard didn't work, so I turned it off and tried again to turn it on and now I get a screen that I've never seen (I attach the photos). how can i fix it?

I think the problem is from the battery, today I turned on my mac and the battery was at 34%, after two minutes it turned off, I tried to turn it back on and it told me to charge the mac (the usual screen that apper when th mac is low battery). What do you recommend? Before this happened the battery was in excellent condition, it lasted me all day (my mac have 6 year, but till now I have used it in a very careful way with a correct battery cycle). Is it possible that not using it for 2 weeks the battery is crazy?

How is it possible? My Mac worked perfectly the last time I turned it on, I never had a single problem with this pc, and now after I leave it off for two weeks the keyboard breaks by itself from nothing.

@yootzmedia I'd recommend spending some time in learning how things works in a Macbook Air as suggesting a full keyboard and trackpad replacement is pretty daring and probably not needed.

von

Are you using an external mouse at all?

von

No I don't, could be this the solution?

I download coconutBattery, and I run it, I added two picture to this question, can you check them? Is the battery the problem? thanks

Has anything such as liquid damage happened to your Mac in the past ? It doesn’t happen very often that trackpads go bad on their own. Whatever is the reason behind, I’d try first an SMC reset (shift+command+option+power button pressed together with Mac turned off and magsafe charging). If that doesn’t work, first thing to attempt to replace would be the trackpad.

no any liquid in the past. Today I tried turning it on again and the keyboard worked for 4 minutes, so I was able to enter the password, but then it stopped working again. This could be a signal telling me that I don't have to replace the keyboard. Maybe making it work a little, turning it on and off, things return to normal (it was off for 2 weeks). What do you think?

von

Hard to tell, but things with intermittent faults in my experience eventually stop working completely sooner or later rather than recovering.

today I tried to use it and I managed to insert the password, but after 2 minutes the keyboard and the mous stopped working, it's strange, isn't it?

Battery doesn't seem to be a problem here, status is "good", except it lost some capacity with time that is pretty normal. It seems able to supply power for hours. Unless it is swollen, but it can be verified only with a visual inspection, I'd suggest to try at least the ribbon cable replacement to start with as @danj recommended, or replace trackpad and relevant cable at once to proceed further.

First try replacing the uppercase ribbon cable MacBook Air 11" (Mid 2011-Mid 2012) Trackpad Cable. The Air's use a combo cable design so both the keyboard & trackpad signals passthrough this one cable to the logic board. Next try replacing the trackpad.

Often times the battery swells up pressing on the cable which is just below it. I would check the battery using CoconutBattery post a snapshot of the main window here for us to see Bilder zu einer vorhandenen Frage hinzufügen

Give this a try when the systems keyboard and/or trackpad have stopped working. Place your system into a tight plastic bag and place it into your refrigerator for an hour. Take it out but wait before you take it out of the bag so the condensation does not form on the case or internal parts. Does the systems keyboard and trackpad working longer?

If thats the case then I think we've proved the battery is the root cause. If you can see if you can get the CoconutBattery app running as thats the real proof!

Here's the IFIXIT guide to replace the battery MacBook Air 11" Mid 2011 Akku Austausch.

I'm sure you can replace it ;-} If you can change a lightbulb you can do this!

I have to put my computer in the fridge, are you sure it won't hurt anything else?

Today I tried to use it and I managed to insert the password, but after 2 minutes the keyboard and the mous stopped working, it's strange, isn't it?

Do you remember your science classes in school? Heat expands and cold contracts most materials (except water).

Here we are trying to reduce the pressure within the battery as thats likely the issue. Placing your system into the refrigerator (not the freezer!) so the systems temp drops down below 40 F / 4.4 C is all we want here. That won't hurt your system.

The other direction is to just dive in and pull the battery and just use the MagSafe charger. Follow the same guide above blue URL link, Then press the power button for a good minute to drain the charge within the system. Once thats done you should be able to just plug in your MagSafe your system should just spontaneously startup and stay working.

That is a trackpad/mouse, most likely the trackpad connector.

what should I do? Do I have to change the trackpad? or can I fix in some way?

von

No, although Apple recommends replacing the battery by 80% (I believe). I still think that you should use the battery as long as possible, as 5617mAh is still quite a lot, especially for a non-retina device.

von

@yootzmedia - Here's the correct info on Apple batteries:

About Mac notebook batteries

Determine battery cycle count for Mac notebooks

And here's bit more on charging them: Charging Lithium-ion

von

I mean do you think I have to buy a USB trackpad and a USB mouse? so the problem is not from the battery and I don't waste money. Because I am sure that if I bring my pc to the apple store they will tell me to change the battery. Maybe I need only a new mouse and a new trackpad

von

Giueppe - I think you're on the wrong direction here.

The battery levels are OK, and shutting off wouldn't be a trackpad or mouse issue (internally or externally).

TheYootzMediaGroup is just throwing spaghetti at the wall to see if it sticks. Review some of his other answers.

What can happen is the battery blisters up pressing on the upper case stopping the trackpad from working as well as the keyboard. I would loosen the battery to see if that was the issue.
