Screen goes black then I turn off then works then back to black

this sounds like your backlight failing. Check your power board for any obviously damaged components. When the screen turns dark, shine a flashlight at an angle against the screen. See if you can still make out any silhouettes etc. If so it’s your backlight. If not then there is the possibility this is either main or power board related. You will have to let us know what exact model your TV is. Once you remove the back from your TV post some good pictures of your boards with your question. That way we can see what you see.
