Hey Keitha.
Three things.
The threads on the drive shaft are stripped. If that’s the case the head will not stay on the shaft, and both parts would need replacement; or
The drive shaft itself could be damaged or broken. Replace the drive shaft only, if this is the case; or
The clutch may be worn out or damaged, etc. In most cases it’s easier and not terribly expensive simply to replace the clutch, if this is your issue.

I had a brush cutter attachment and hit an unmovable object. Now the head spins freely. I took the head off and say that the flexible drive shaft had become detached. I managed to grab the end of the shaft with a long tweezers and reattach to the head; but I don’t see any pins or other devices to hold the shaft in place to the head.
