Can anyone tell me what is the name/ type is the male connector (i.e the six pin plug) need to try and source some, in order to make extension fly lead to tap into the 3.3v and ground to power a PWM module.

The panels LED’s load is far greater than what the SD card reader line was designed to support. Interesting idea for sure! FYI: The GPU does not control the backlight.
How about fixing the real issue here, the displays backlight driver board needs replacing LED driver board and here’s the guide iMac Intel 21,5" EMC 2428 LED Treiberplatine austauschen

The backlight board is working OK with the original GPU card, just wanted to run a 13KHz PWM signal to the board in place of the one from the iMac.

That doesn't make sense. Did you review the schematics?
The control is via a circuit on the main logic board which then passes through the LVDS cable to the LED driver.
When running Mojave on the updated GPU there is no backlight control and no boot screen, so I made a LVDS cable extension with no connection from the PWM signal, and intend to use a PWM generator to feed 13KHz at 3.3v, that is why going to use the 3.3v from the card reader, and would like to make a harness with just two wires.

Hi Dan, just upgraded the graphics card to a Dell Precision M4700 nVidia Quadro K2000M 2GB, and working fine but no backlight control, ordered a PWM generator module, need to power it with 3.3v, so going to use the power from nth SD card reader, could just spice into the cable, but thought if I could get the male plug with some pins, Would crimp two wires and make my own wiring harness.
