MacBook won't turn on, battery disconnected and magsafe light is amber

At first, the status of my battery said 'replace now', this was after i had replaced my broken keyboard with a new one, i had no battery problems before then.

The percentage was stuck at 5% and would keep restarting by itself, even with the battery disconnected, running it from the magsafe. This made me think that it wasn't actually a battery problem but some kind of software problem which was somehow started from replacing my keyboard.

However, now my Macbook won't even turn on. The battery is disconnected from the logic board and i'm trying to power it on using my magsafe but it still won't turn on. The magsafe light is amber and won't change to green. I have tried an SMC reset (something i've tried countless times with no success).

I'm completely lost on what to do next. If my macbook wont turn on at all now, even with the battery disconnected and the magsafe plugged in, could this be a logic board problem?

Remember, all was fine before i took it apart and replaced my keyboard. I had no power problems before then.

Don’t know what went wrong with replacement but your Mac should have a green light on only with battery conncted and fully charged. At any other time magsafe should show an amber light. All in all I’d say there is little doubt you have a logic board failure there, that needs either a component level troubleshooting and repair or a replacement.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry, i'm colourblind and after checking with a family member, the light is actually amber. I'll have to change the title.

@Alex Wells That unfortunately doesn't change much the overall picture, your Mac is capable and should work without the battery if you have a correct 85W charger plugged in, it would even start by itself as soon as you connect the charger. If you have the chance you should try an alternative charger to start with to rule that out as a possible cause. Double check your work and be aware that a bad keyboard can give several troubles. Usually problems arising after a part replacement are due to a faulty replacement part or an involuntary mistake caused during the job.

@arbaman The strange thing is, my macbook was powering up for a while after i had replaced the keyboard, it just said the the condition of my battery was poor, saying "replace now" in the task bar. It was restarting by itself after about 5 minutes of use though and would stay on for longer if i only powered it using the magsafe with battery disconnected from the logic board.

Thanks for your effort to help anyway. Maybe the keyboard is faulty but it worked fine for the short time i was able to power up my macbook.
